An Industry Concern: Privacy vs. Quality

To monitor and improve quality, debug software, or handle customer service tickets, the industry standard often relies on technical teams reading through user conversations. Even if a company claims the data is "anonymized," the reality that a human stranger might read your intimate chat is deeply unsettling – especially in AI companionship, where you are sharing your deepest thoughts and sensitive feelings.

AeonChat’s Solution: Putting You in Control

We believe you should never have to compromise your privacy to enjoy a highly engaging AI companion. To give you more control over your digital footprint and reduce these concerns, we built Private Mode.

Hidden from Our Team

When you toggle Private Mode on in the AeonChat app, you instantly lock down your conversation history, which then will not be read by anyone at AeonChat.

To turn on Private Mode, go to Profile >> Account Settings >> Privacy.

As you can see in the screenshot above, instead of a chat log, our team will only see a system message in our database: "Private Mode is enabled for this user. Chat history is hidden."

Transparency First: The Necessary Exceptions

Trust requires absolute transparency. While Private Mode shields your data from human review in almost all cases, we have built-in specific exceptions strictly to keep our community safe and our app functional.

• Automated Safety Monitoring: Even with Private Mode active, an automated machine algorithm monitors chats in real-time. This is strictly to scan for severe violations, such as content related to self-harm, violence, or illegal acts, ensuring we meet legal compliance and keep you safe.

• Escalated Human Review: If a severe safety or security concern is flagged, a human review team may be brought in to assess the situation. This is a critical fail-safe for emergencies, not a casual review process.

• Consent-Based Tech Support: If you experience a technical issue and request our help, we might need to look at your chat history to resolve the bug. However, we will always ask for your explicit permission first before accessing any of your hidden data.
